Special Buddy Program

As of Jan 1st, 1999, we incorporated a special Buddy Program into our Bushindo University^TM curriculum. If you and a friend are members with us and plan to be tested by us either in person or by video* then this will be a great deal for you. But if you are studying the video tapes together and elect to be tested by another Bujinkan instructor not affiliated with the American Bujinkan Dojo^TM this buddy system program does not apply to you. *Note: video testing is available up to 1st kyu, the rank just before Blackbelt; the Blackbelt test itself can only be done in person.

Here's the special deal. We want our students to get a first class education and to encourage their friends and family to do the same. So we made it easier with the Buddy Plan to learn and test with a friend without them having to get an entire set of their own. This special Buddy Start-up Package gives you all you need to train with someone who has enrolled in the entire Ninjutsu Home Study Course for a one time Bushindo University^TM registration fee. It's Simple: One student enrolls by purchasing the entire Home Study Course set ($379 in magazines) and the buddy then enrolls into Bushindo University^TM with a registration fee of only $125. The enrolled student and the buddy can now train and test together with the one complete set that is sent to the student (testing certification fees still apply to both students).

The Buddy gets what we call the "Buddy Start-up Package" which includes a 9th kyu tape (so they can learn the basic Ninjutsu foundation well even on their own time), a Shodan / Black Belt Training Manual (so they can reference all studies and techniques), a Japanese Terms Pronunciation Audio (so they can know how to say proper training terms in Japanese so that they won't feel embarrassed when training with people who know the terms), a 1 yr. American Bujinkan Dojo^TM Membership that includes a shoulder patch for their uniform, and specials on supplies, training gear and study materials, invitations to special trainings and camps, a frameable wall certificate and ID card that certifies them as a Bushindo Martial Arts University^TMRegistered Ninjutsu Student. As a registered student you can use your buddy's Home Study Course and individually test for rank that comes from Grandmaster Hatsumi in Japan and is signed by Master Van Donk as well. This ranking will be recognized worldwide.

We want our students to be well educated and proud of the ranks they earn. Please note that all of our ranking, whether the student studies with us in an actual physical dojo or studies with us from the videos, is done with the same high standard. A Home Study Course student's rank certificate is the exact same certificate as the one a person training in a dojo receives. But our high standard is not always met by other Bujinkan instructors, whose requirements for the same rank may be less than ours.

Summary
To sum it up, ALL students who wish to learn and RANK TEST with us must either be enrolled for Ninjutsu study at one of our American Bujinkan Dojos or in our Ninjutsu Blackbelt Home Study Course program either as a purchaser of the Course or on a Buddy System. Testing fees will need to be submitted individually by each person testing. We pay qualified instructors to review each person individually on your submitted ranking review tape. They prepare a written feedback sheet instructing you on how well you did and what exactly you need to improve to get the best progress in your training. You can train on the Buddy Plan system up to receiving your Blackbelt from us, after which time each person will be on their own separate program (though we recommend that you still study together). Small training groups should consult the ABD hombu office for details. *Note: Immediate family members (meaning wife, husband, brother, sister, son or daughter) living in the same household can use the same Course to study and test from as long as they have a current ABD membership and a Shodan training manual. They do not need to buy a Buddy Plan.

MULTI-BUDDY PLAN OPTION 3  (see below to order)
We encourage students to get together as a training group - everyone inspires each other's growth! One person usually ends up leading this group due to their advanced skill or knowledge level. We've had much experience with these situations and have experimented with about every option. Our experience teaches us the best format is to have one person who has the entire Black Belt Home Study Course be a training group leader. All others get Buddy Plan Option 2. We have found that the group stays together better and grows substantially faster when EVERYONE has ALL the material. This is a real course and the grades you receive are as real as the ones you will get training in any Bujinkan dojo. It's a small investment for such a big change in your life and much cheaper than any dojo dues.

Please note this about being a certified teacher in the Bujinkan arts:
Officially through the rules of the Japan Hombu one must be a Shidoshi-ho (which usually is given at Nidan (2nd degree) level, though sometimes it is given to a qualified Shodan (1st degree) whose desire is to open a dojo) to be a junior teacher in the Bujinkan system. Our goal is to help get you there. Contact us with your questions if you need any clarification.
